My Shih Tzus

I have always loved animals of all kinds - but my absolute favorites are dogs. I currently have two shih tzus. My female, Molly, is extremely small, she weighs about 5 - 6 pounds, and my male, Benji or Ben for short, is much larger.

They are great pets. Molly is a wonderful companion - not to say that Ben isn't, but Molly just seems to know how to cuddle just right. Molly has a much more dignified personality than Ben. Ben is one of those wonderful dogs that has a somewhat goofy personality.

I have had Molly longer than Ben. I've had her about 5 1/2 years now. I bought her from a friend when she was only 5 weeks old. She was such a tiny baby! At the time I was working as a Nurse Educator. I got her on a Tuesday and I took "pup-ternity" leave for the rest of the week. I wanted bonding time with her and time to establish a routine.

To make a long story short, I worried that Molly was lonely during the day while I was at work. Another friend had acquired Ben as a gift and she was not a dog person. She also had small children that were not accustomed to animals.

My friend, Sonya eventually asked me if I would like to have Ben. Of course I could not resist - over the years I have acquired many animals in that way....when people know you love animals they keep you in mind. Anyway, after being used to my tiny Molly I was very surprised to see Ben's size -- at the time he was only 4-5 months old, approximately the same age as Molly.

Molly loved Ben and Ben loved Molly almost from day one.
